Tips for Running or Walking in the rain

Running or walking in the rain can be fun and exhilarating so don't let the weather slow you down. Here are some tips to make it safer.

Don't walk or run if there is thunder or lightning.

Wear waterproof or water resistant gear: This can help keep you dry and comfortable while running.

Wear reflective gear: Rain can reduce visibility, so it's important to wear bright or reflective gear to make sure you're visible to drivers and other pedestrians.

Slow down: Running on wet surfaces can be slippery and unpredictable, so it's important to slow down and be cautious. Be extra cautious on wooden bridges...I have the scar to prove how slippery they can be!

Watch your step: Look out for puddles and other hazards on the ground that can cause you to slip or trip. They can also be deeper than you think.

Keep your feet dry: Wear shoes with good drainage and  wear moisture wicking socks to help keep your feet dry. No cotton.

Wear a cap to keep the water out of your eyes.

Stay warm: Rain can cool you down quickly, so it's important to wear layers and stay warm to avoid getting hypothermia. Pack some warm kit and a towel so you can get dry and warm as soon as you are done.

Adjust your route: If your usual running route is too slippery or hazardous, consider adjusting your route to avoid these areas.

Enjoy it: Don't let the rain keep you from running or walking! Remember that running in the rain can be a fun and invigorating experience.
